Recently, some customers were unable to connect to the PlayStation network. This problem has been common in all models of the PS3 except for the newest version. They believe the problem is being caused by a bug in the clock functionality incorporated in the system.
Some errors resulting from the problem may include:
-The date of the PS3 console being reset to Jan 1, 2000.
-When the user tries to sign in to the PlayStation Network, the following
messa ge appearing on the screen: "An error has occurred. You have been
signed out of PlayStation Network (8001050F)."
- When the user tries to launch a game, the following message appearing
on the screen: "Failed to install trophies. Please exit your game." and all trophy data disappearing.
-When the user tries to set the time and date on the system via the
Internet, the following message appearing on the screen: "The current date
and time could not be obtained (8001050F)."
- Users being unable to play certain rental video downloaded from the
PlayStation Store before the expiration date.
They hope to resolve this problem in a few short days. In the meantime, if you have a model other than the newest PlayStation 3, they advise you to not use your PS3 console because as doing so may cause errors in some functions, such as recording obtained trophies, being unable to restore certain data and not being able to use various standard features. The PlayStation network stated, “This problem will not affect any new version of the PlayStation 3.” They also kindly apologized for any inconvenience that was caused.
